Do I Qualify for BasicMed in Gilbert, AZ?

See Your Doctor
Make an appointment with Dr. Howard Fern at DOT Physical Phoenix. He'll perform the FAA medical exam and complete the FAA form.

Take the Course
Successfully complete the free AOPA online medical education course.

File Documents
Print your course completion certificate and keep it in your logbook with your completed checklist.
Make sure you meet the flight review requirements of FAR 61.56 and any other flight or instrument proficiency requirements to act as pilot in command.

How Can You Fly?
- Flights must be within the United States.
- No flying for compensation or hire, except limited cases permitted by FAR 61.113 — such as charitable flying, sharing flight costs with passengers, or flying in connection with a business when the flight is incidental to it and carries no passengers or property for hire.
- BasicMed applies to the pilot in command, including flight instructors. The FAA notes instructors who meet the rule may act as PIC while giving flight training without a medical certificate, whether or not the student holds one.
